CLARO BRAZIL - AI & Machine learning
Claro Brazil is a mobile, satellite-television, fixed and broadband telecommunications operator serving Brazil.
Overview
The product consisted of recommending content to users from an API using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Based on the quarter's planning and in order to reach new customers, it was decided to create a new page for recommending APIs and creating new ones.
COLLABORATION
I was part of the innovation team at Claro Brazil, called Smart Content, which creates artificial intelligence and machine learning APIs that recommend videos and music. The Agile team was of composed with 3 data scientists, 2 developers, 2 and designer, 2 quality engineers, a designer, a product owner, a scrum master and a product manager. Also, I worked as a Product Owner for 9 months.
design process
My design process consisted in:
Empathise: Stakeholder interview, journey map, competitor analysis.
Define: Problem statement, user journey.
Ideate: Information architecture, user flow.
Design: Wireframe, high fidelity prototype, visual design.
Test: Improvements, Google Analytics, usability check.
Tools: Figma, Miro, Microsoft Office.
solutions
In order to launch new videos recommendation API, we decided to redesign the currently page. To improve the visibility, interaction, usability and interface of recommendations.
I designed a better user experience to the user with fewer screens, clear information and a clear user journey trying to catch their attention using machine learning. For the interface, I designed a website using elements that are easy to resize in the responsive. I used a black background to deliver a cinema experience to the users, call-to-action buttons with vibrant colours indicating the action the user must follow and components based on the Design System.
challenges
During ideation, we went through several different design concepts that ultimately did not completely satisfy user needs. One design concept that we prototyped displayed a game that user could discover new video contents based on preferences, but through usability tests we discovered that people didn't adapt to the game.
results
As a result, we created more than 3 APIs that were used by other products at Claro and a new website with improved usability and experience.
Outcome
Because of this project, we realised the importance of learning new skills, prototype testing and exploring new design concepts. It made us test new designs to make sure they were viable solutions before development.
